Historian + Translator

A historian of the Second World War and the Holocaust, I received my PhD with distinction from New York University in 2024. My dissertation, “Fragments of Exile: A Sociopolitical History of Alsatian and Mosellan Expellees in the Basses-Alpes, 1939-1945,” examines refugee practices and authoritarian statecraft during the Vichy period. Its micro-historical approach emphasizes the critical influence of individuals’ discretionary power on the local application of national policy. Bilingual in French and English, I am also available to translate social science, humanities and other non-fiction articles and books from French to English. Please use the contact page to discuss how we might work together.
